While the atmosphere was as lovely as the service, and we didn't have to wait long for our meal — all important factors in a good "power lunch" — the food just didn't live up to the hype. I grew up next to a wood-oven pizza restaurant that my family would visit weekly, and Cecconi's wood-fired spicy salami pie captured my nostalgia. Each floppy slice had a satisfyingly smoky and charred bottom, adding some great texture. The spicy salami and perfectly cooked mushrooms were a match made in heaven, and the tomato sauce was delicious.

Here, grilled pork meatballs and skewers are served on grand platters along with rice papers for wrapping and a forest of greens for garnishing. Cecconi's cavatelli lamb ragù is $14 cheaper, but it's still a very pricey dish, and the flavors just didn't warrant the expense, in my experience.
My drink had a lovely sunny hue that brightened up the very cloudy LA day, with flavors to match. It was a sweet and zingy drink, and the ginger candy garnish was a fun touch. I've lived in LA for the past few years but had never dined at Cecconi's.

Restauranteur Michael Greco and chef Brendan Collins were already wowing eaters with gourmet grub in a garden setting when they decided to reinvent the interior portion of Fia into a steakhouse. The insanely good (albeit pricey) restaurant within a restaurant is just the kind of place to drown in stiff martinis and develop the meat sweats. A meal here starts with one of the best bread baskets ever assembled—think four or five different varieties of carbs are served with high-quality butter, salt flakes, and a jar of drippings. From there, phase into meatballs and raclette fondue, bubbles and caviar bumps, or a bluefin tuna! The centerpiece of most meals here is a large-format cut like a 24-ounce bone-in ribeye, a tomahawk pork chop, or a rack of lamb, some of which have been dry-aged for 30 to 60 days and all of which will hit the wood-burning grill.
With gorgeous meeting rooms, lounge areas, lofts and an inclusive communal kitchen this location is prime for collaboration and creativity. We had an issue with our room being changed from balcony, which was a deal breaker on if I could even go on the cruise at all. I have OCD and large groups of people can be problematic at times and I didn’t want to be cooped in the room the entire boat ride because of this. I contacted customer support and they contacted the cruise line which got us a balcony room very quickly without any hiccups or problems.
